We are thrilled to announce that following our recognition as Service Dealer of the Year at the recent PACCAR Australia Awards, Mark O’Dwyer from Hallam Truck Centre has been named the 2022 Kenworth Technician of the Year!

What makes this announcement even more exciting is that you may remember Mark was awarded DAF Technician of the Year in 2021 - this makes him the first person to ever be awarded both awards back to back!

Noelle Parlier, Chief Engineer PACCAR Australia, and Richard Saville, Aftersales Manager PACCAR Australia, presented the 2022 Kenworth Technician of the Year award to Mark, congratulating him on his win and performance on the day.

When asked about this incredible achievement Mark is extremely humble, “I’m very proud to have backed up my DAF Technician of the Year award win from last year with the Kenworth Technician of the Year win this year.”

“It is great to have the opportunity to test yourself and be involved in competitions such as this. We have a great team at Hallam Truck Centre and it was great to be able to represent them,” says Mark.

Campbell McNaughton, Hallam Truck Centre Service Manager, is extremely proud of Mark and that he has been recognised for his commitment and passion for the Kenworth brand.

“This award is a testament to Mark’s hard work and dedication to the Kenworth and PACCAR brands, and we couldn’t be prouder that he has been acknowledged for this,” said Campbell.

Matt Keene, Hallam & Bayswater Truck Centres General Manager, echoes Campbell's sentiments, having worked with Mark for many years.

"It has been great to see Mark progress his technical ability to the highest level and receive top honours with this award, having started with Hallam Truck Centre as an apprentice over 19 years ago. In recent weeks, Mark has been promoted to a key supervisory role within the service department, which highlights the career opportunities available for Technicians and Auto-Electricians in our Dealerships. Congratulations again Mark!"

The search for the 2022 Kenworth Technician of the Year began in October 2021. Service Technicians from Kenworth dealerships Australia wide were invited to participate in the competition, which aimed to recognise and reward the best of the best.

The competition itself consisted of five practical assessments measuring technical skills, product knowledge, engine expertise and professionalism, after which the finalists were chosen.

The finals were held over a full day on Friday, April 8 at Kenworth DAF Melbourne. There were five practical tests that were a combination of electrical, mechanical and system testing.

The finalists received over $30,000 worth of prizes, including a voucher for a selection of tools vital to the job, and this year had an additional incentive with Mark being given the opportunity to join Team 18 as a Garage Crew member at this year's Repco Bathurst 1000. 

Additionally, second and third placed Kenworth TOTY winners will be treated to a weekend Garage Crew experience with Team 18 at an upcoming Supercars event.
