Kenworth K220 Launch Event - A Night To Remember!
Customers and our staff were ‘shook all night long’ by the jaw-dropping unveiling of the Kenworth K220 at our launch recently!
We had the pleasure of inviting our loyal customers, supply partners and staff to launch the all-new cabover model at a fantastic venue with great food, drinks, and entertainment.
The day started with a convoy of six trucks making their way from our dealership in Hallam to The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne. Here, we watched our team skillfully position three heritage cab overs into the beer garden and then manoeuvre the K220’s and last heritage truck into the warehouse space in preparation of our big unveiling.
Fast forward through some heavy rain throughout the day, to the sunshine when guests started to arrive. As they entered the rustic venue, they were welcomed with an epic line up of cabovers lit up on display, trays of beers in K220 stubby holders being served, and a fantastic acoustic set by The Cover Crew. Seeing all our customers, new and old, having a chat over a drink and some food in a fabulous venue was long overdue and a great feeling.
The impressive collection of heritage trucks (all but one of them still working to this day), were a definite highlight of the night. It was fantastic to be able to include all the progressive cabover models up to the K220, with every cab size offered. Having these Kenworth rigs on display helped convey the history of where they started, and it was amazing to see just how far the cabovers have come.
Thanks again to Warwick and James from Doolan’s Heavy Haulage, Stuart and Rob from Focus on Furniture, Craig from South East Organic Fertiliser, and Peter, Rob, and Matt from Wilby Transport for allowing us to showcase these previous model Kenworth’s. They really looked amazing all lit up!
The sun started to go down which meant it was almost showtime! The acoustic set wrapped up, and an announcement was made to head towards the warehouse doors for the K220 reveal. You could feel the anticipation building from the guests as they waited in front of the closed warehouse doors, not knowing what was coming. Suddenly, ‘Thunderstruck’ by ACDC started playing loudly on the other side of the doors and guests were eager to see what was going on!
Then, the giant warehouse doors opened, and through the smokey haze the crowd was hit with an astounding light display in time with the ACDC classic tune. There were strobe lights flickering onto the K220’s, red lights down the spine of the warehouse swirling across the venue, red LED strips in the furniture, and many more impressive effects! Guests were in awe, walking through with their phones in the air – trying to capture every moment of this five-minute light show!
Matthew Keene, Hallam Truck Centre General Manager, then kicked off formalities as host inside The Timber Yard warehouse by officially welcoming all our valued customers and thanking them for attending our special night. Daniel Crawford, Hallam Truck Centre Dealer Principal, followed with some great insight into the industry, product development and our long, ongoing, and valued relationship with PACCAR Australia.
We also had the privilege of Andrew Molnar, PACCAR Australia General Sales Manager, joining us to thank customers for their ongoing loyalty and support of Kenworth Trucks Australia.
PACCAR Australia Deputy Chief Engineer, Bill Rakis and Regional Sales Manager, Simon Graham then gave our customers a detailed overview of what we were all there for – the all-new, next level K220! Simon had some great knowledge for the Kenworth brand, so it was a real treat for customers to hear him speak on the new and improved features on the exterior and interior of the new cabover model.
Bill Rakis then gave our customers a technical insight into the upgraded technology and safety systems within the model which were extremely impressive, and we know that it will be an added benefit to the drivers of these great models.
It was great to have the PACCAR Australia team attend our event – it really demonstrated how important our customers are to them, to have had such great representation from the manufacturer present at our launch.
Once the formalities finished, our customers were encouraged to hang around for more entertainment from The Cover Crew, where we heard some great 80’s rock classics from their 6-piece band. Beef brisket empanadas, cheeseburgers with fries and other drool-worthy menu items were thoroughly enjoyed by our customers throughout the night whilst swapping stories near the bar and getting in and out of the K220’s to catch a closer look.
When the night slowly wrapped up, our customers were encouraged to take home a special gift – a custom K220 Bluetooth speaker, along with a range of Kenworth merchandise, as a thank you for their continued support of Hallam Truck Centre and for joining us for what was a night to remember.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Kenworth K220 Launch and we look forward to more of these incredible customer events in the near future!
