The Hallam & Bayswater Truck Centre teams are extremely proud to announce that Grant Brown has taken out the title of PACCAR Australia’s Kenworth Technician of the Year for 2024.

Each year, PACCAR Australia invite service technicians from across PACCAR dealerships Australia-wide to take part in the Technician of the Year competition. During the competition technicians are put to the test and recognised and rewarded for their skills and abilities, and ultimately crowned as the ‘best of the best’ in their field.

Finals took place at the PACCAR Factory in Bayswater earlier in March over a full day and the finalists undertook a variety of practical assessments. These assessments involve technical skill, engine expertise, product knowledge and professionalism.

The process started months prior, when Hallam and Bayswater Truck Centres nominated standout technicians, including Grant Brown, to take part in the annual competition. Grant, and the other technicians nominated from PACCAR Dealerships Australia-wide, are then asked to complete a series of four theory tests. These tests are put together by Product Trainers and Regional Service Managers, who then judge the results based on the technicians’ answers and the time taken to complete each theory-based test.

Not only did Grant breeze through this theory testing, but we also had Shane Henderson, Bayswater Truck Centre Technician and Inndyah Chenoweth, Hallam Truck Centre Technician ace the testing, which resulted in them all landing a spot in the Top 4 in Australia for either DAF or Kenworth! This meant they moved straight onto the finals, where they competed in a series of diagnostic challenges at the PACCAR Australia Factory in Melbourne.

After the competition had been completed, all finalists, Hallam and Bayswater Truck Centre representatives, and other competing dealers were invited to the awards dinner at Eureka Towers where the winners were announced, and we had much to celebrate!

During the formalities, PACCAR Australia Chief Engineer, Brad May and PACCAR Australia Aftersales Manager, Steven Tomaro, announced Grant as 2024 Kenworth Technician of the Year! In recognition of this fantastic achievement, Grant received a $5,000 Snap On Tools voucher, a $5,000 VISA gift card and a merch package which included seats, esky, drink bottle, hat, and much more.

We’re also extremely proud of Shane Henderson who placed 4th for Kenworth Technician of the Year, and Inndyah Chenoweth also placed 4th for DAF Technician of the Year.

Congratulations again to all the outstanding participants who took part in the 2024 competition from across the CMV Group. We are extremely proud to have such strong representation from Hallam and Bayswater Truck Centres, as well as our sister dealership CMV Truck Centre, with Matt Henderson taking the title of DAF Technician of the Year. The professionalism that was displayed by all our technicians throughout the competition was truly admirable.
