An experience to remember! Following the recent reveal of the Next Level Kenworth K220, we had the exciting opportunity to invite some of our valued customers to an exclusive K220 Drive Day at the Australian Automotive Research Centre (AARC), in Anglesea, Victoria.

At the AARC, our customers were able to get behind the wheel and drive the K220 on test facilities which included an impressive range of different driving conditions found across Australia.

On the day, PACCAR Australia representatives were on hand to give our customers an exclusive insight and run through of all the new safety features and impressive technology included in the new, elevated model.

Some of these features include:

• An easy to read, 15-inch, high-definition digital display which provides everything the driver needs to operate the truck in one spot. 
• A daily systems check at a push of a button, ensuring drivers feel at ease knowing they have access to full comprehensive systems reports at the start and the end of a trip. 
• The new Endurant XD Pro transmission, easily skip-shifting its way through gears. 
• The impressive Cummins Euro 6 engine with exceptional performance.
• Stainless steel grille to enhance engine cooling.
• LED headlamps with integrated indicators.
• Redesigned interior features which provide drivers with more space, storage, and comfortability. 
• Driver Assistance Technologies which raise the bar in driver safety - adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, lane departure warning and more.  
  
  

The powerful capabilities of the Bendix Fusion System were also put to the test out on the track! Knorr Bremse used a car to cut in front of the travelling K220 and suddenly brake, which then initiated the innovative safety system to detect the stationary vehicle, and automatically engage the brakes avoiding impact, with no driver intervention. Now that’s what we call next generation advanced!


Following the introduction to the impressive new K220, our guests were provided with a catered lunch and were able to sit, relax and enjoy each other’s company whilst talking all things trucks!

During the day, it was great to hear customer’s feedback about the performance and interior saying, “the Cummins Euro 6 engine mated to the Endurant transmission was a winning combination and drove absolutely beautifully”, and “inside the cab is clearly more spacious too, there’s a lot more legroom as well as headspace when the driver needs to move around thanks to that new roofline”. The K220’s strikingly unique, comfortable and enhanced new Kenworth design definitely impressed.


After the K220 driving experience concluded, our guests were invited to attend a private 2-course dinner at the Novotel Geelong. The night was a great opportunity for us to reconnect with our customers over a drink or two, after a long break between ‘face to face’ events due to COVID-19. It was a fantastic evening at a waterfront venue, with stunning views across the bay!

The feedback we received from customers indicated that they found it to be a lot smoother in performance and easier and more efficient to handle”.
