Five New Kenworth Prime Movers for Bonney Energy Victoria
Kenworth Trucks are the top pick for companies that want power and performance from their trucks, without compromising on efficiency. That’s why Bonney Energy has chosen to expand its fleet with five new Kenworth Prime Movers - built tough for demanding work, while helping to reduce environmental impact.
After extensive research, Justin Durham, Bonney Energy’s Operations GM and Troy Marshall, Bonney Energy’s Vic Operations Manager identified that Kenworth was the perfect choice to meet their evolving needs. They met in October 2024 with Josh Dilworth, Hallam Truck Centre Sales Consultant, to discuss how Kenworth’s range could meet Bonney Energy’s operational requirements.
“The whole process was smooth from start to finish. We worked closely with the team at Bonney Energy to make sure the trucks ticked all the boxes - comfortable for the drivers, fit for purpose, and ready to hit the road,” said Josh.
When it came down to what they were looking for, their preference was day cabs with semi-luxury features to enhance their driver’s comfort, along with a vehicle configuration that complies with Performance-Based Standards (PBS) by staying under the 20-metre length limit.
Both the Kenworth T410SAR and T610SAR fit their requirements, as well as offering superior payload advantages thanks to lower tare weight and an optimised wheelbase, which is why Bonney Energy has welcomed three new Kenworth T410SAR and two Kenworth T610SAR prime movers, into their fleet.
The three Kenworth T410SARs are powered by the PACCAR MX-13 engine, delivering 510hp, paired with a 12-speed PACCAR automated transmission and are built to haul a single trailer application.
The two Kenworth T610SAR’s come with the Cummins x15 Euro 5 engine with 550hp, Endurant XD Pro 18 speed auto transmission, DANA axles and disc brakes. They have been designed specifically for B-Double trailer application, with driver comfort enhanced thanks to an advanced heating and air-conditioning system with automatic climate control.
To ensure optimal performance and driver comfort, these trucks have been outfitted with a range of premium features, including JOST Australia turntables, Alemlube auto greasers, and a comprehensive hydraulics and fuel haul kit installed by Liquip Victoria. Finishing touches include signwriting by Trevor Barnes.
Our expert pre-delivery team further customised the trucks with bespoke centre consoles, complete with integrated fridges for convenient food and beverage storage during long hauls.
“These trucks are custom-built to our requirements,” said Justin, “which aligns perfectly with our ‘right product, right task’ mindset.”
“This is the first time in a long while we’ve had the opportunity to select every component. It’s about giving our drivers the right equipment to do their job safely and efficiently.”
Driver safety was a key priority in the design of these prime movers. Each truck is equipped with advanced safety technology, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning systems, and fatigue monitoring that detects prolonged glances away from the road or signs of drowsiness.
Each unit is also fitted with the advanced PACCAR Connect system, providing real-time performance monitoring and fleet management capabilities.
“We’re expecting not only lower fuel burn but also reduced repair and maintenance costs,” said Justin. “And as we phase out older trucks, those savings will extend across the business.”
These Kenworth’s have been specifically engineered to accommodate trailer application for efficient fuel transport across Victoria.
They will be double-shifted and deployed across a wide range of operations, including fuel delivery and long-distance linehaul services, and are equipped with advanced safety features to protect drivers both on the road and while operating at service stations, supporting Bonney Energy’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and reliability.
We look forward to seeing these new rigs on the roads and in action across Australia. Josh and the Hallam Truck Centre team would like to thank Justin, Troy and the Bonney Energy team for their support. We look forward to working with them well into the future.
